Federal Data Resources: Where are they being preserved?
Recent federal policy changes by the Trump Administration has already taken important government data offline, with more removals anticipated over time—including climate and energy information that you may need to inform your fleet transition to electric vehicles.
Fortunately, rather than risk losing access to these critical resources, several organizations have already taken action to preserve them.
Climate Program Portal
Atlas Public Policy collaborated with dozens of partners to create the Climate Program Portal, which offers access to a huge database of archived web pages about the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), two laws that made historic climate investments during the Biden Administration and have been targeted by President Trump’s Executive Order 14091.
The Climate Program Portal’s Federal Archives page features IIJA and IRA program and project information, as well as a list of other related archiving efforts by various partner organizations.
The Portal’s growing and searchable Library provides access to a wide range of fact sheets, data, tools, and other resources, all of which have been submitted by partners to help others navigate developments in the implementation of the IIJA and IRA. Here are a few examples of resources archived here that can help you map your organization’s approach to fleet electrification:
EPA’s Clean School Bus Program archives include an inventory worksheet and electric school bus station planning form, both valuable tools for school districts making the upgrade to clean school buses.
State Plans for Electric Vehicle Charging summarizes each state’s planned EV charging infrastructure deployment, which can support planning for trucking routes and more.
The Alternative Fuels Data Center’s Electric Vehicle Charging Stations overview page provides an introductory summary of charging infrastructure development, terminology, and equipment types.
Public Environmental Data Partners

Public Environmental Data Partners has compiled a more focused archive of data resources, with an emphasis on environmental justice. Among the information they’ve preserved is EJScreen (pictured above), a data mapping tool we recommend using to help you take a data-driven and equitable approach to decarbonization. Previously hosted by the federal government, this tool offers health and environmental data specific to your area.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to preserving these resources!
